I'm a bioinformatics student at Brigham Young University, and I expect to graduate in April 2017. I'm doing cancer research with Dr. Stephen Piccolo and IT work for Dayton Financials.

I’ve worked with Dr. Piccolo using R and Python on projects to identify genomic criteria from TCGA patients to predict whether a given individual will respond to a particular disease treatment.

Dayton Financials specializes in online sales. I use Python to analyze data from our competitors so we can make better purchasing decisions. I am also heading a team to write an inventory management web app based in PHP.

Adilas is a Salida, CO-based company whose goal is to provide an all-in-one business solution. I made small client-requested tweaks to existing features using JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and ColdFusion. I also worked on a team to build Adilas’s APIs in PHP.

Volunteer Experience

LDS Missionary

February 2013 - February 2015

Kansas City Metro Area

I volunteered as an LDS Missionary for two years. I maintained a rigorous 6 ½ days a week, 14 hours a day schedule, finding and teaching anyone interested in our message and conducting meetings with other missionaries. I served in leadership positions over 8-32 other missionaries for over half of my mission.

Interests

Here are some of my current interests:

  • Blogging and learning the technologies associated with Jekyll
  • Studying persuasive writing and rhetoric
  • Automating my life with Python and Bash (for example, I recently wrote a script that emails me when my stocks rise or fall a certain amount)
  • Listening to podcasts and audiobooks
  • Long walks on the beach
